Amen!

We are an IBM partner in development, but we are apparently too small to be
allowed to sell hardware. The newest version of our System i training software
uses AJAX techniques to access Java server code. The software includes not
only our course delivery code, but also a basic Learning Management System to
control and track which courses each student takes. The student data is kept
in a SQL database.

This is a perfect application for a small system (or partition) running i5/OS,
DB2, and WebSphere Application Server.

We'd love to sell our training solution pre-installed on a new 515. Or sell a
515 along with our software. The customer would get 110 System i courses in a
box that would simple plug into their network, all for less than $20K.
Unfortunately, the only comment I've gotten from IBM was a recommendation to
prepackage our product with Linux, Tomcat, and MySql for delivery on a PC. We
are seriously considering this, but it just doesn't seem right for a System i
vendor to require Linux.
