I guess I haven't explained it very well. The net effect from a Windows
perspective is that the Windows server on the IXS/IXA was shut off and
later turned back on. It is unaware of any saves, restores, copies,
changes to a new IXS in a different iSeries, etc. From a Windows
perspective there is no 'restore'; just a period of time that it was
turned off.

I apologize as I first spoke from the i5/OS side, where we're saving &
restoring the disk image. However, I should have written with more of a
Windows (or Linux..) point of view where the IXS' OS is unaware that any
save/restore/copy/move took place. It was simply turned off for a bit.

As long as AD running on the IXS will 'catch up' with any new USNs when
it comes up, I don't think there'd be an issue with running on the IXS
that wouldn't also exist on standalone hardware.

BTW, the IXS is on the "Designed for Windows" Server 2003 list:
