Tom -

I keep thinking about that Vonage CSR that last month asked me (reading from his script):
"Sir, did you dial 1 + 512 before dialing the number?"

Customer service these days is worse than awful - it is downright pathetic.

P.S. The lady who originally called me (and who is based in North America) called back. She is out today for medical reasons (which is why I ended up talking to the offshore service center), but she's following up on my call and will try to get a copy of the invoice emailed to me today, or tomorrow
when she gets back to work.

I've gone through similar with almost every order I've ever placed
with IBM. The biggest problems I've had has getting simple answers
for "How much do I owe?" and "Where do I send the payment?"

At times, I feel that part of IBM actively discourages the receipt
of money.

But what really caught my interest -- almost every memory I have of
similar problems includes a delay due to the contact person being
"...out today for medical reasons" at some point. Strange.
