I just looked at the setting of our HP 4250TN. The config page for it
shows as
Default Paper Size: Letter
Tray 1 Size : ANY SIZE
Tray 2 Size:Letter
Tray 3 Size: Letter
I'm not sure if have to answer a forms prompt on the printer when we first
turn it on or not, but all of our reports and compiler listings print
without any intervention. We use a WSCST of QWPHPLSR4 and MFRTYPMDL of
HP4000.

LaserJet says LOAD TRAY 1
New LaserJet 4250tn says LOAD TRAY1 whenever I send a document to it. When
I tell the printer to use tray 2 instead of tray 1, the document prints.
Tray 1 is the manual feed tray and tray two in plain letter. What's wrong
here? Here's the device description:
