Outfiles are simple, however I've been burned by release upgrades changing
the format of output files.  I tend to use API's more often now.  Although
API's tend to be more work.  Especially the first time you use a list api.

This is where REXX and SQL come to the rescue!  Even if the layout of the
output file changes, REXX can use an SQL statement to get the needed fields
and then either use them to execute commands or pass them to a processing
program.
