Finding a canned package that handles YOUR file may be a little difficult. Even if you found one that comes close, you might find that trying to retrofit one into the other, you may have just rewritten it anyway (Been there - done that WAY too many times.)
From my own experience, it might be easier/quicker just to re-write it.
My first impression (for what its worth) it doesn't look that bad to rewrite from scratch. Alan Shore NBTY, Inc (631) 244-2000 ext. 5019 AShore@xxxxxxxx midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote on 01/08/2007 10:28:36 AM:
No. That is not what I needed. We have a system that allow users to maint a detail file by ranges. Below is an example of detail file: ATTR1 ATTR2 ATTR3 NUMBER ASSIGNED AAA BBB CCC 123 Y AAA BBB CCC 124 N AAA BBB CCC 125 N AAA BBB CCC 126 Y AAA BBB CCC 127 Y AAA BBB CCC 128 Y AAA BBB DDD 123 N AAA BBB DDD 124 N AAA BBB DDD 125 N AAA BBB DDD 126 N AAA BBB DDD 128 Y The system has a screen that display the above info by ranges from a summary file ATTR1 ATTR2 ATTR3 ASSIGNED? FROM TO AAA BBB CCC Y 123 123 AAA BBB CCC N 124 125 AAA BBB CCC Y 126 128 AAA BBB DDD N 123 126 AAA BBB DDD Y 128 128 User can then use a function key to assgined and unassgined by ranges. This system has been pretty problematic. We can ethier rewrtie it or buy a can package. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces+lim.hock-chai=usamobility.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces+lim.hock-chai=usamobility.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of albartell Sent: Monday, January 08, 2007 9:08 AM To: 'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion' Subject: RE: Range If I read your statement right you are looking for an easy to use solution to edit DB2 data? I use Linoma's Surveyor tool for that (vs. UPDDTA or WRKDBF or WRKQRY). At my previous place of employment we also used it for the QA staff so they could easily load test data. Very nice software and you get a free copy for a single developer on a machine so you can test away to your hearts content until you are ready to buy. If you don't have more than one user on a machine needing access to the tool then you can simply renew the product for free every 90 days - minor annoyance for great benefit.
