Oh boy - that's like the dino/synthetic debate on auto forums.

The long and short of it is that IBM says do it when the system requests
and not as a preventive measure.  If you have time, it shouldn't hurt
anything and it does touch pretty much every object.  But, FWIW, I've
done a RCLSTG and a week later had to run another one because the system
reported a problem and recovery was a reclaim.  I haven't done reclaims
in years and to no ill effect.

I am getting ready to run a reclaim storage on our system (520 running
V5R3) just because we have not had the time to do one for a few years
and will have time this week. I was reading up on the command and IBM's
site is recommending that it not be done unless there is some know
problem that needs fixed. This use to be something that was recommended
to do on a regular basis. Has that now changed?
