Had a CE just replace a tape drive on a new i5 - he did *CNTRLD with 300 seconds (5 minutes) to power off box jim----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Kreimer" <tkreimer@xxxxxxxxxxx>

As an extra precaution, for PWRDWNSYS, I would do a *CNTRLD instead of *IMMED, as this writes all the disk cache out to disk. As the caches grow larger and larger, a loss of cache info can require a system reload to repair, so I've been told by an CE. Hence the reason for the newer redundant cache controllers. ==================================== Tom Kreimer Information Alternatives Don't know about the users and trading partners, but on moving day, ENDSBS *ALL *IMMED PWRDWNSYS *IMMED RESTART(*NO) If you're really anal, put a colored dot label on each cable and the card it plugs into. Plugged everything back in and hit the power button. 20 minutes later I was working again. -- Paul Nelson Arbor Solutions, Inc. 708-670-6978 Cell pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx Jerry Draper <midrangel@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 12/22/2006 05:12 PM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject moving an i5 I have to move an i5 520 a few miles and I looking for suggestions on how to accomplish this task. I haven't heard that disk drives need to be locked down prior to a move for a long time. Necessary?
