I will do my best to make it into something else, but it sounds like
iSociety

is not run by the people in the System i5 Society but instead by larger

entities that have $$ ambitions (i.e. systemiportal.com). Nothing wrong
with

iSeriesNews making money off of it (good for them, and I think they are
a

great company), but I think it limits where iSociety can be taken.

Aaron:

Thank you for first understanding the power of iSociety, and to putting
in your thoughts on how to improve and expand it, however there is one
glaring misconception here. Please folks do be clear on one point.

iSociety is owned by the users/members your spoke of, no one else.
COMMON administers the web site URL and some other administrative
minutiae, but that's it. Yes COMMON received some funding to get it
started, but that is where it stops! SystemiNews does contribute
greatly as does IBM and several other companies, but it is not a site
that directly generates business nor do they have any ownership in it.
Any company can join in and several are and have.

Personally I think the niche that David and this list fills is a major
portion of iSociety and I would like to see a more highly cohesive link
between the two (loosely coupled of course ;-) )

As to the messiness of the site, How about giving us some help? I'm
sure Trevor could find some volunteer position in the group he leads at
COMMON that works iSociety where your significant skills could be put to
use. Maybe even getting the code research central concept started!
