As to the messiness of the site, How about giving us some help?
You bet. I have done a lot of site reviews in the past year. That doesn't make me good at it, but I have refined some of my approaches. 1. Upon going to iSociety what is my "eye-flow"? First I hit the cool looking iSociety logo (yes, IMO cool is important :-). The logo shouldn't be cut off on the left side, let it extend into the other part of the page. Next I look at the other side and see an "un-matching" blue box (i.e. Quick link to: My iSociety Home Page). Does match the site - and is also a dead link for me. Next my eyes go to "Welcome..". Heading font is choppy, make it an image like the "Community, News and Information, Awareness" images. Next I feel uncomfortable about the font size. I hold down left control and roll mouse wheel two notches and font feels just right. Next I look at "Join" oval. I click and get taken to common.org (which has a look and feel of the early 90's - definitely not up to the isociety home page). Make this a isociety.org/signup.html page - waaaayy to much COMMON stuff on there - I don't care about COMMON at this point. New members=Immediately confused. I know, I know its in the works. Next I go to register my site and am taken to domain systemiportal.com - just lost continuity and confused me again - who is iSociety?(rhetorical) Make this a isociety.org/register page keeping it on the primary domain. 2. Where's the site map? 3. News and information could use some icons next to the entries. 4. After looking at it some more there are way to many COMMON and systemiportal.com urls off the front page. For example: why should the "Other member sites" go to systemiportal.com? Make this a page right off the isociety.org domain. 5. New and Information/Awareness columns feel a bit like a google ad. 6. How about a "Coming soon.." section so people know it is actively updated. Also a "most recent changes" page would be nice to also show progress. 7. How do I contact iSociety? Do I search in systemiportal.com <tic> :-) That's all I have time for today. Aaron Bartell
