Yes...there's a fair amount of cleanup that takes place during an IPL. However, the stuff that gets cleaned up doesn't really grow forever (unless something's wrong), so you don't need to IPL to clean up too often. I think a lot of shops IPL quarterly or so when they're applying PTFs. On 12/11/06, Michael Rosinger <mrosinger@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:
List, For the first time in months, I IPL'ed our v5r3 system over the weekend since I had to apply one PTF and an optional product. After the IPL I was surprised to see that system's disk usage dropped from about 59% to 50%. This raises some questions for me concerning the frequency of IPL. I would appreciate your comments. TIA 1) Is there some type of cleanup of work areas, output queues, etc. that can only take place during an IPL? 2) How often do you IPL your systems and why? -- Regards, Michael Rosinger Systems Programmer / DBA Computer Credit, Inc. 640 West Fourth Street Winston-Salem, NC 27101 336-761-1524 m rosinger at cciws dot com -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
