You will likely be back up to 59% quickly.  There are temporary objects
(that you can't see) that build up over time.  They are mostly re-used, but
doing an IPL will collapse them.

List,

For the first time in months, I IPL'ed our v5r3 system over the weekend
since I had to apply one PTF and an optional product. After the IPL I was
surprised to see that system's disk usage dropped from about 59% to 50%.
This raises some questions for me concerning the frequency of IPL. I would
appreciate your comments. TIA

1) Is there some type of cleanup of work areas, output queues, etc. that
can
only take place during an IPL?

2) How often do you IPL your systems and why?
