"XP, 95, ME, and Vista are nothing more than version indicators.
"Windows" has been "Windows" since something like 1984 and is the thrust
of the Microsoft marketing program. They emphasize new versions, yes,
but not at the expense of the existing Windows brand."

True - but if Windows is Windows then it too qualifies as legacy too since
it goes back to 3.1 in the mid 80's.

Newer versions eventually require new hardware too at some point. Same
with the i. We can't run V5R4 on a B50.

My point was that the name of the day is the easy part, and we should be
the first to adapt to it. We've had this discussion too many times to
recall. It shouldn't even be a point of conversation anymore.

Again it's the marketing. IBM needs to learn that from M$, but I believe
it's never going to happen. IBM makes too much money on the windows world.
Why would they want to sell a single box (the i) when they can sell forty
(p's) to do the same workload? They are a services business now and why
wouldn't they want to sell forty service contracts instead of just one?

Regards, Jerry
