And don't forget that every new version of VB/VisualStudio has broken
code from older version, sometimes to the point of doing a complete
rewrite of the application.

Not Windows OS exactly, but IIRC, Access 2.0 didn't fully work with
Office 
95 Access.

And Office 95 Access didn't fully work with Office 97 Access.

And Office 97 Access didn't fully work with Office 2K Access.

That is when I stopped recommending using (and personally using) MS
Access 
for anything required for business.

In each instance, code that worked in the prior version didn't work in
the 
newer version. That's not the OS itself but they are all MS products.
That 
to me is the lack of backward compatibility that MS doesn't offer, but

should.
