That bus is called Southwest Airlines. Doesn't the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend RR still run commuter trains to/from South Bend? Deposits you right in middle of the loop.

St. Louis and Minneapolis are the only two places in that list of states where one can fly direct from either coast, and St. Louis is limited in how many flights per day. Stick with Chicago. Rob can take the train, or there's also a shuttle bus from South Bend. We've used that as an easy way to go to see the Irish play :-))
