Aaron, the HMC is a customized IBM 1U server that runs Linux. The only thing
it does is the HMC funtions. So the $1800 price tag (I assume that includes
the LCD screen) isn't far off for that type of setup.

I just want multiple OS400 LPARS - development vs. prod type deal. Let's
also say I wanted to do a third, forth or fifth LPAR, what are the
software/hardware/licensing ramifications of that?

Just found the HMC pricing in the "Quick Pricer" pdf. Looks like it is
feature 7310-C05 and costs $1830 list (not including cables, which I don't
know what I need) - whew, that's expensive just for the need to do LPARS.
Do I need it if all I am doing are OS400 LPARS?

Thanks for your input Chris,
Aaron Bartell
