(I assume that includes the LCD screen)
If you buy the rack mount (which includes the slim lcd) it is $3800.
If you buy the desktop you can get "#1876 L200P Flat Panel Monitor(desktop)"
for $1645.

I am guessing I can just get the appliance and use my own keyboard, mouse
and monitor.

Aaron, the HMC is a customized IBM 1U server that runs Linux. The only thing
it does is the HMC funtions. So the $1800 price tag (I assume that includes
the LCD screen) isn't far off for that type of setup.

You may not need the HMC for a basic LPAR. But again it depends on
what
type of partitioning you want to do.

I just want multiple OS400 LPARS - development vs. prod type deal.
Let's also say I wanted to do a third, forth or fifth LPAR, what are
the software/hardware/licensing ramifications of that?

Just found the HMC pricing in the "Quick Pricer" pdf. Looks like it is
feature 7310-C05 and costs $1830 list (not including cables, which I
don't know what I need) - whew, that's expensive just for the need to do
LPARS.
Do I need it if all I am doing are OS400 LPARS?

Thanks for your input Chris,
