FWIW, one of my clients made the choice to use Linux for their TSM instance. I don't work with TSM (their BP takes care of that for them) but I do take care of the Linux half of the equation. The only issue has been to ensure that any update involving the kernel is held off until the appropriate TSM drivers for the tape drive are available. The machine and TSM has been rock-solid.
