Linux sounds nice because of that word "free" that keeps floating around.

Remember, it is not "free" as in "free beer", but rather "free" as in "free
speech".

From the GNU Foundation website page of free
software<http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html>

``Free software'' is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the
concept, you should think of ``free'' as in ``free speech,'' not as in
``free beer.''

Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute,
study, change and improve the software.

And, in theory, any script kiddie can download it and run it at home, thus
flooding the market with Linux talent.

I don't know if that is really applicable. The script kiddies I have met
dabble and play around, but don't bother to learn how anything actually
works. I don't lwt them anywhere near key systems.

See my previous link about "free". I suspect that you will need to train
and invest in admin folks whether you choose AIX or Linux.

Take care.
