DSPPFM is just a raw viewer of the file and treats the data as single byte code points (it doesn't try to access the field definitions to determine CCSID, datatype, etc). When using the hex option (F10/F11) you should see shift controls bracketing the DBCS data. I am working witha customer who is having some issues converting DBCS spooled files into PDF/Text Files. They are using CCSID 935 on the machine. When they copy a spooled file to a PF using CPYSPLF and view it with DSPPFM, they don't see the chinese characters (just garbage where they should be) When they use WRKQRY and query the file, they chinese characters show up fine. What would cause this problem? This is really just step one of trying to convert this to a Stream File and retain chinese characters. I posted on this before but we never did get it worked out.
