Hello,

I use FTP to return file names all the time.

Use the "ls (disk" FTP command and it will return a directory listing
of all the files in your specified directory to a file called LSOUTPUT on
your AS/400. Just read LSOUTPUT to see if the file you are looking for
exists.

HTH,

Nick

Subject
Verifying Existence of a File on a Server

I am creating an association between some iSeries data and files that
reside on Windows servers. When the file name is entered, I'd like to
verify the file exists, but I'm not sure how. F.T.P. won't work since it
just returns the "226 - Transfer Complete" message whether the file exists
or not. I suppose I could write a little Visual Basic program that would
update a file on the iSeries with a code. My instincts tell me there must
be a better way though.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
