I have always wanted to do mine weekly.  I do the same thing, a
SAVEANDIPL (a quick and dirty CL to Go Save 21 with IPL).  The faster
tape drives have helped me "defend" this downtime window.  It used to
take 3 hours to save, now it is only 1 hour, so even by adding the IPL,
it is only like 1:20 or 1:30.  The users win with more uptime, I win
with easier DR and regular IPLs.
