Re: how client access licenses are counted

In the realm of emulation there are many choices aside from CA. IBM charges $275 per copy for the piece of CA that does display, printer, and file transfer. All of the other components of CA are free and part of the operating system (ie: ODBC, OpsNav, etc.).
CA is unnecessarily heavy on the wallet and desktop. It is also invasive to Windows as it loads services that run all the time in Windows even if you aren't using CA.
We sell, support, use, and recommend WinTronix IP Client which is the iSeries client derived from the software made by engineers at Synapse under Joe Frank's direction before he passed away last year. It does display, printer, and file transfer just like the billable part of CA.
For comparison purposes note that single copies of IP Client are $179 and a P05 unlimited license is $2K. Site licenses are also available. Shops with multiple iSeries need not buy duplicate licenses for each box.
