Rob and Charles have good point. Not a big deal LPARing the 810. I
have Prod LPAR and a Test one. Other than extra IOP/Disk
controllers/DASD/Console access and some memory it's not bad.

5-10K for the consulting services does seem high.

subject: LPARing an 810......

I'm preparing a presentation on possible expenses in the coming
year and
have been asked to add a slide concerning the cost to LPAR our
current
system if we decide to begin work on a new ERP package.

I realize that an 810 will not support the latest and greatest in
LPAR,
but believe that it is possible with one 'controlling' partition
(OS/400
based) and dependent LPARs (also OS/400 based) as needed. Is that
correct? What would be a reasonable estimate to have a business
partner
come in to set that up? I don't think this is something that we
would
want to tackle on our own. Would $5 - $10k cover the consulting
expenses?
At this point we're interested only in a broad outline of the
possiblity--we really don't need to go through the process of
spec'ing
this out and getting real quotes.

Thanks for any help.
