We are in the process at looking at different options also. Advanced
Systems Concepts, NewGeneration Software, SPSS Showcase. I think all
these have added field level security to users. If the ITS staff create
the queries you could take a look at the open source BIRT which is an
Eclipse addin which looks nice for those that know SQL

Dave Odom had started several threads regarding the QMF product. This
is a PC based query tool that shares its heritage with QMF on the
mainframe, which was ported to Query/xxx on the midrange platforms.

Subject: GUI alternative to IBM Query

Hi Folks,

Anyone using a GUI based alternative to IBM Query ?

We had someone show our CFO how to do some stuff with Microsoft's query
tool
and the ODBC drive from Client Access and it appears to have absolutely
NO
security what-so-ever and I see all kinds of problems with rolling that
out.

Thanks !

Chuck
