Does the user have *OBJEXIST authority to all of the objects in the directory?

Have a situation where RMVDIR ... RMVLNK(*YES) is not working and issuing an error to the effect that directory is not empty - which RMVLNK is supposed to take care of. User has X authority on all directory levels in the hierarchy and authority on the files themselves. "Restricted rename and unlink" flag on all directories is off. The directories in question are in QDIRSRV but I can't see nay documentation that says that that makes any difference. Anyone got any thoughts on what else to check?
