Hello,
mail from:as400@xxxxxxxxxxx 250 2.1.0 as400@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx OK rcpt to:jdraper@xxxxxxxxxxxxx 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for jdraper@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
When you set up an e-mail server, you have to restrict it to make sure that unauthorized people (for example, spammers) can't use your SMTP server to send mail. Typically, you set it up as follows:
a) Allow inbound mail whose final destination is this server. For example, if your mail server is to receive all mail for trilosoft.com, and put it in user's mailboxes so they can read it, you'd obviously have to allow mail (no matter where it's from) for the trilosoft.com domain.
b) Allow mail that is to be send out (outbound mail) if the server is listed as trusted (or is in a range of addresses that are trusted.)
For example, if you set up an SMTP server for your company's network, you'll want all IP addresses on your company's network to be able to send mail to it, no matter who the mail is destined for. Then, you send it out to the destinations. (This is called "relaying")
The error message you posted suggests that exchange SMTP server doesn't allow relaying from your host. Most likely the problem is that it hasn't been configured to "trust" your AS/400 host as a computer on your company's network.
