We had one of our journals fill up last night when no one was around and since we had them all set to *USER managed it did not just roll over but instead everything came to a halt. We have since changed all journals to system managed in case it happens again but in reading the documentation it says that an IPL will also generate a new receiver, which is not a problem, but it goes on to say that the IPL will also reset the journal sequence number. We do a full backup on Friday night and just journals over the weekend and IPL once a week on early Monday morning. If we have any database problems on Monday we would need to restore from the Friday night backup and then apply journal changes to get current again. The weekend journals would apply OK but if the Monday journal has lower sequence numbers than the previous weekend journals will that cause a problem applying the Monday journals?
