Our finance group purchased Websphere MQ for our 870 on a Capacity Used contract (called Subcapacity). Our 870 has 8 processors and the 2 of 7 partitions that run MQ only use 5 processors. I have always seen IBM software sold by serial number so all partitions could run a copy, but this contract was so we could save some money. My manager (datacenter) got an urgent call from IBM marketing that we were not in compliance with our MQ and we needed to go to a web site and get the License Management software and install it. If we did not we would be charged the full price for all 8 processors. This needed to be done by the end of the month (Tuesday). I went to the link and I found it was about Tivoli (we don't run any Tivoli). After much searching I found references to downloads for Websphere MQ but NOT the iSeries (5724B41) version. I got back to the IBM marketing person and she said that she could not help with the technical issues but did send me a Quick Start Guide for Tivoli Compliance manager. I went through the document and it clearly states which platforms (OSes) it runs on OS/400 and i5/OS not on the list. Later it also states that the web client does not run on iSeries or i5. So this sounds like I have to setup a Windows PC for the install if I can ever figure out what it is I'm to be downloading. I called IBM Support Line and got an MQ level 2 person. She knew nothing of this. I called my BP and he can only provide the highest level of information. IBM is trying to contact my IBM marketing guy but he has not responded all week. And I need technical help not marketing help. What's my next step? Should I call back into Support Line and ask for Tivoli support? -- Doug Hart ************************************ This e-mail and any files transmitted with it are proprietary and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
