Yes, where/how to have text be a field like that, a combo field?

Are you looking for a way to take
....+....1....+....2
MM   DD   YY   STUFF

and use Query/400 to get
....+....1....+....
      MYDATE
      01/02/61

FINAL TOTALS
COUNT 6

I don't know about "have to" but that's how we do it.  I often build two
fields, since our users like MDY dates, and they don't sort well.

yy * 10000 + mm * 100 + dd
mm * 10000 + dd * 100 + yy

Then if it's a printed report, I use an edit word '  /  /  ' to make it
look good for the user.
