It was from Neoware I think I read... we would be very interested in it, but it looks like it might be a while. The IBM'er was showing it on behalf of another company, and "testing the waters" to see if folks might be interested in such a device. -- Paul Nelson Arbor Solutions, Inc. 708-670-6978 Cell pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx "Jim Franz" <franz400@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 05/16/2006 03:10 PM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject Re: HMC or LAN Console IBM was showing at Minneapolis Common Expo a "possible" alternative, a HMC like hardware device (no pc needed) ethernet attached but only of hmc functions. A dedicated console not requiring windoze. Reminded me of a thin client. I liked it. Small shops do not want to dedicate a pc, and even if they do, as soon as you leave they move it somewhere else...., plus like every pc in the network - Win Updates, antivirus, and all other maintenance issues. Not sure how this device get's it's updates. jim franz ----- Original Message ----- From: <rob@xxxxxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 16, 2006 3:58 PM Subject: RE: HMC or LAN Console > Not bad compared to the several twinax terminals we had to have laying > around to support all the terminals going belly up.
