Did you create the virtual modem on your PC. It should show up as AS400
Operations Console Connection. If not go through the process of adding
the modem on your PC. Install from Disk and the location of the file is
C:\Program Files\IBM\Client Access\Aoc\Inf\cwbopaoc.inf At least that
was the mistake I made when installing Operations Console on my PC.

Subject: Operations Console Cable

So much for an "easy" thing to do.

We just got in an ops console cable to use in replacing out old 5250
console. Hooking up a 9406-800 @ V5R3.

I ran the cable from the 800 to the PC serial port, turned on auto
config, ran through the wizard on the ops console set up and can't get a
connection (according to the ops console screen on the PC) even after an
IPL.

A couple/few questions:

Do I need to remove the 5250 device from address 0 port 0?

Do I need to configure anything manually on the iSeries side?

Any other words of wisdom?

I did follow the instructions at
