Thanks Walden. No intention to do that at all. Reason for the questions: 1) Just try to gain some knowledge on ip protocol. 2) I do some socket programming but do not do it in a regular basis enough to ever put me in advance level. ==> Every bit of info from this list helps. 3) I'm not in charge of network ==> never have a chance to know how that is done. If I ask our network guy, he's first question would probably "Why would you want to know that?". -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Walden H. OK, I'll take this one.... I believe the answer to your question is no, you can't do it. However, Why, Why, WHY would you ever put a server outside the firewall? You understand you're basically asking what the best way to hold on to a 747 wing at takeoff with bare hands so you don't fall off is, right? It might be possible, but no one would ever try. -Walden -- Walden H Leverich III Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x3051 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur.
