James,

While it's not mandatory I would certainly upgrade your iSeries Access to V5R3 or even better V5R4. It has been my experience (and many IBMers have also told me this) that having your client at the most current level is almost always the best way to go. I am running V5R4 on my thinkpad and still have clients all the way back to V3R2 that I connect to.

I do not know this to be true but it could be that the format of the DHCP config you are writing from your V5R1 client to your V5R3 system is no longer correct.

Currently at V5R3 and using the 400 as DHCP sever.

Operations Nav is at V5R1M0.

I now want to assign address to a device based on MAC address

Using OPs Nav I created a Client entering ip address and MAC.
IP address is within address pool. Checked box for unique identifier.

Get error message : An error occurred while updating the DHCP server.
An error occurred while calling program on server.

Looked in logs and message queues. Did not find anything.

TIA for any hints.

Jim
