Re: How to force a sign-on screen at IPL??

The system value QCONSOLE is not changeable.  It only reports what the
current console is.

The idea is that you can retrieve it to send a message to the console.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you specify the console name by changing
the  QCONSOLE system value?

Simon : Thanks for the info re: A9002000.

So is this what thappens if QAUTOCFG is set to OFF? It seems odd that by
changing this sys-val it can cause the system to 'hang' during IPL! But
until I can sign on to the AS400 I cannot check this - any ideas on how I
can force the AS400 to accept my monitor as the console and to get a
sign-on screen?

"Note: You may be able to use the console service functions (65+21) to
assist in a recovery or to gather debug data." - Could you elaborate on
this please?
