You can't fix something by restoring it to the same box?  Hmmm... so you
either maintain a second one or build one as needed for restoring a user

That's what you do w/Exchange too. Restore the filegroup to a new
exchange box (doesn't have to be big, we've used a P100 w/96Meg of
memory for the task) and do a mailbox copy back to the production box.
