No Paul, Query pitches a fit if the output file does not match the desired layout. QRY5083-Query output definition does not match file DOUGO in ROB. Cause . . . . . : The definition of the query output does not match the definition of the specified output database file. The definitions do not have the same number of field entries, or the entries are not compatible. Field names and locations need not match but corresponding fields must have the same data type and, for other than date, time, or timestamp fields, the same length. In addition, corresponding numeric fields must have the same scale and precision, and corresponding single-byte character set (SBCS) and bracketed double-byte character set (DBCS) fields must have the same keyboard shift. This query cannot add a new member to the file, replace an existing member, or add new records to an existing member if the definitions do not match. Rob Berendt
