packed numeric fields

I am working on a query to generate a file with data that will mimic a file 
that is expected by a particular program, so I need to match field lengths, 
etc.  My challenge comes because a few of the fields needed are  packed numeric 
fields, as well as zoned numeric and character fields.  I'm not aware of a way 
to accomplish this with query, but I would like to be surprised to hear that it 
is possible.  Otherwise is there a way to convert the numeric fields that 
should be packed when copying the file to its destination library, or is there 
some other way to accomplish this?  We are at V3R3.
