Yup, the hardware is basically the same and i5/OS is probably more expensive to develop and support. And yes, you'll need to buy a database like oracle or db2 for AIX to have something equivalent. Pricing involves some market analysis. p5 and other *nix systems go head to head for the same customers where price is critical. p5 sales may be doing well, but the margins are probably lower than for the average i5.
