I've been to the TH site.  If it took three months to do that, then they've
got some real problems.  It's a basic shopping cart that you can do with a
canned PHP package in a couple of weeks.

And I'm reasonably sure TH doesn't get 100K hits a day, much less 100K
orders, so where is the site that is ACTUALLY getting those kinds of hits
and that kind of throughput?

Come to think of it... 100K orders in a day isn't that many.  If my numbers
are correct, that's only about one a second.  Hell, entire stadiums sell out
in minutes.  That's a lot more than one a second.  So by their own
admission, MS can't handle large-scale order entry.

Good to know.

Except for brilliantly coded, usually single-purpose sites (the Googles of
the world), server farms don't scale to enterprise level.
