The "model" is really a status of how the drive is used.  050 means
unprotected (no raid or mirroring) and 074 means the drive is part of a
parity set (raid).  Given your 074 drives were spares, maybe they were
part of a raid set in an earlier life.  Have you tried re-initializing
them first ?
