I think there is a reason IBM publishes most of these planning statements way in advance of a new release. And an "I can't believe they really mean..." attitude will bite you in the as$. The loss of OV/400 was so drastic they gave us notice 2 or 3 releases in advance of the one that would no longer support it. And people still tried to figure out ways to get it to run, even crippled, in that release. Reminds of the gas service stations that were given 10 years notice to replace their underground tanks, and still tried to get an extension. Zero were issued. Rob Berendt
