Joe Is PSC/400 a product of plutabrothers ? At 06:04 PM 2/2/2006, Joe Pluta wrote:
You're missing my point. Even PSC/400, which because of its design has more functionality available than any other solution, really needs some creative techniques to do simple conversions. For example, creating a subfile with action codes requires at the very least a way to send all the available action codes, and this is outside the realm of the screen scraper. This sort of metadata needs to be sent either ahead of the screen or with the screen. Ahead of the screen means a non-zero footprint on the client, while sending data with the screen means somehow extending the 5250 data stream. Yes, there are good solutions WITHIN THE CONSTRAINTS of the 5250 data stream, but those constraints cripple all but the most advanced techniques. And finally, even though we have engineered solutions to these problems, we're still not the answer. We're closer than anyone else, I think, but we still don't seamlessly integrate with the application generators and until that happens, you won't have a truly productive legacy integration and extension environment.
