RE: HMC & Alternate console

Love the HMC but some operators just can not seem to work them.  Give
them an Ol' 3476 and they are happy.  Also we had an issue where our HMC
would not connect to our iSeries, IBM support had to do some fancy foot
work to get them communicating again.  4 hours of extra down time for a
simple hardware upgrade that required the system to be powered off.

Also, you can do a restricted state with the HMC just fine.  It's
actually a superior solution since it gives you remote capabilities.

Really, between the HMC's remote console, Web-based System Manager, the
RMU on our 3582 tape library, virtual optical support, and Window's
remote desktop for the IxS cards, I barely have to physically visit at
all.  Just have an operator swap tapes as needed.
