This is important. If this is an order entry screen for a telephone service rep then you can probably speed up the entire process by removing some of the arcane bits of the 5250 interface. However, a data entry screen for someone doing heads down keying from pieces of paper (market trades are a prime example) is unlikely to be made better by a GUI. The loss of typeahead alone makes a browser application less powerful, and even the best GUI in the world is only going to go as fast as the user types.
