Now, if all you need is a remote console, you don't have to install WebSM. Just configure an iSeries Access 5250 session to connect to the HMC on port 2300 using a user ID of Q#HMC (Properties of the system name in the Configure dialog). The nice thing is on an LPARed box you can run concurrent remote consoles from all of your LPARs, indeed all LPARs of all machines managed by the HMC if your HMC manages >1 iSeries. I had 5 consoles from our two i5s up the other day. This works with other emulators like Mochasoft, BTW, but iSeries Access PC5250 is probably going to be the only IBM-supported solution.
