We are looking at creating a custom A/R system (do not ask why custom!) using WebSphere/Java/DB2 on the iSeries. The vendor selected to do the work now says he needs to do the back end on Microsoft SQL server. When asked why not DB2/400 as originally specified, he said it was because of DTS (data transformation services?) on MS SQL server. Does anyone know what DTS does? Is there an IBM product that does what this DTS does? Is the vendor saying this because he does not know DB2? Is there any reason to do this project on an WINTEL box instead of the iSeries? Please help. Thanking you in advance.
