It may well be time for a new vendor. Al Al Barsa, Jr. Barsa Consulting Group, LLC 400>390 "i" comes before "p", "x" and "z" e gads Our system's had more names than Elizabeth Taylor! 914-251-1234 914-251-9406 fax http://www.barsaconsulting.com http://www.taatool.com http://www.as400connection.com george.wagner@so- container.com Sent by: To midrange-l-bounce midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx s@xxxxxxxxxxxx cc Subject 12/16/2005 05:53 DTS? AM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@midra nge.com> We are looking at creating a custom A/R system (do not ask why custom!) using WebSphere/Java/DB2 on the iSeries. The vendor selected to do the work now says he needs to do the back end on Microsoft SQL server. When asked why not DB2/400 as originally specified, he said it was because of DTS (data transformation services?) on MS SQL server. Does anyone know what DTS does? Is there an IBM product that does what this DTS does? Is the vendor saying this because he does not know DB2? Is there any reason to do this project on an WINTEL box instead of the iSeries? Please help. Thanking you in advance. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
