The customer box in question is V5R3. And just last week, we got a different customer's V5R3 box serving secured Telnet without any trouble at all (surprising, since it ain't something I do every day).
At any rate, the customer is asking IBM about it, and I'm asking you guys, so hopefully somebody will figure out what's going on.
