And that might depend on which version of OS you are running.  I don't 
think JDK 1.2 is available on V5R3. - The sole reason you were forced to 
go to Domino 6 when you went to V5R3.  Actually had Domino 5 running on 
V5R3 but every time you did a java thing (which is quite often) it logged 
an error.
